Power:  How to Develop the Ability to
Influence and
Control Other People

Power is the ability to influence and control the outcome of a situation.  It can be achieved by giving a direct order, a suggestion, making a request or asking a favor.  but, the result is always that the other person acts as you want them to and you derive a benefit from their actions.  

There are many different kinds of power that you can have. If you are an employer, you have power over your employees because you pay their salaries.  If you are an expert in a certain area, you have power because you have knowledge and influence in your specialty.  If you are involved in a legal dispute, you may have the law on your side.  If you have money or credit cards you have the power to obtain items and services you desire.


Charisma

Charisma is another kind of power.  If you have this power, you can influence people through your charm.  If you are capable and knowledgeable, people will trust you and listen to what you have to say.   

It is important to look the part of someone who has power and authority.  People are impressed, either positively or negatively, about how someone looks.  They may not even be aware of it.  But, based on appearance, they may treat one person well and another badly. 

If you are well-groomed and well-dressed and are driving a nice car, you will be better received than someone who is unkempt and slovenly in appearance and driving an old car.  So, always try to look the part of authority and power.

Business clothing is an important and worthwhile investment.  If you do not have a new car, at least, be sure to keep the one you have clean and in good repair,

Visualization

Envision how you want to appear to others and your subconscious will help you to achieve it.

It is important to consciously behave as though you are in command.  Move, speak and act like someone with power and influence.  Be conscious of the way you speak and the words you use.  Carry yourself well.  Maintain good posture.

If you are someone with a great deal of knowledge about a subject or who is capable of handling many different types of situations, people will seek you out.  They will ask your advice and, eventually, they will ask you to join their social and business organizations.

Remain in control at all times.  Never get into a power struggle when you perceive that you are at a disadvantage. 

Focus

Focus your energy on the person you wish to influence.  Project your own mental energy and your own thoughts into his mind as if they were his own.  Look him in the eyes.  Try to gain his confidence.  Always imagine the positive outcome you desire in the situation.  Always focus your

The Power to Sell Yourself or an Idea

Having power and making money is largely a process of convincing people,
of selling yourself, your service, your product.  You must give people what they want and tell them what they want to hear.  The problem is to learn exactly what that is.

Begin by giving people basic information about what you are selling.  Then continue with your sales approach.  Always watch their reactions carefully.  When you see their eyes light up and they lean forward with interest, then you know that you have aroused their interest.  On the contrary, if you prospect seems disinterested, then shorten that part of your presentation and go onto the next.  Try to find the person's "hot button."  Listen for any clues that the person is giving your that will let you know what powers you must use to persuade him to do your will.

Always present yourself with confidence.  Project your will.  Speak and move with assurance.  Present a powerful outward appearance with the appropriate clothes and car.  Keep your home and office neat.  People tend to believe what they see and hear.  If you look and sound like you have power, you will have power.
