How to Keep a Dream Journal Dreams - Tips for Remembering Dreams and Keeping a Dream Journal by Angela M. KaelinJust as keeping a waking journal is helpful for writers, keeping a dream journal is an excellent exercise for writers to stimulate their creativity and even to produce ideas for stories. Dreams can be a gauge for what is going on in our waking lives. Very often it is a reflection of our emotional state, reflected in strange, imaginary events. Remembering, recording and analyzing your dreams can give us startling insights into ourselves. Those who have studied sleeping people say that all people dream. But, not all people dream the same way and not everyone can remember their dreams. Women are more likely to dream in color than men and they are often more likely to remember their dreams.
Upon awakening, lie still for a few minutes and mentally put yourself back into that twilight state. Recall the last detail, however vague, that you can remember. Hold that in your mind, while completely relaxed and still in the half-awake, half-asleep state. You should find that you are able to recall many of the events in the dream. Once you have remembered all you can, slowly rise. Don't wait too long before recording as many of the details of the dream as you were able to remember. Hire a Pro Copywriter You can keep a dream journal on-line or you can get an empty notebook or journal. Place a date at the top of the page. Write down as many details as you can remember however bizarre they are - after all, they are only dreams. Apart from being tools to self-understanding, dreams are also the basis of fictional stories and characters for many writers. Some authors claim that they get a great deal of their inspiration from dreams. Stephanie Meyer, who wrote the Twilight series, claims to have received the inspiration for her vampire love story from a dream. So, awaken slowly and let yourself remain between worlds. Let the memories from the dream filter into your waking life. Remember to record what you remember as soon as you reasonably can. You will soon become a more powerful dreamer.
